AEW Dynamite (11/22/23) Results: AEW Continental Classic Tournament Begins, Patriarchy Rechristened

AEW hosted its latest episode of AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, live from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

This week's episode is the first episode following AEW Full Gear. Of note, the AEW Continental Classic Tournament matches begin. Also, Christian Cage is set to rechristen the members of his Patriarchy, Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus.

AEW Dynamite (11/22/23) Results

* AEW Continental Classic Match (Gold League): Swerve Strickland (3) def. Jay Lethal (0)

- Orange Cassidy, HOOK, and Katsuyori Shibata are interviewed by Renee Paquette. They are confronted by Wheeler Yuta. He addresses Shibata, saying that seeing him with the ROH Pure Championship makes him sick. He vows to reclaim the title that he lost.

- MJF and Adam Cole make a surprise appearance. Max is limping as well as Cole. Max puts over Jay White. He calls himself the greatest AEW World Champion of all time. He gives the mic to Adam Cole who says that he is a long way away from coming back. He also says he is concerned about Max because there's so many people gunning for him, especially the person in the 'Devil' mask. Max says he's going to find the person behind his mask. The lights go out and the devil appears on the screen. They laugh, making a sound for the first time, and Samoa Joe immediately comes out. Max tries to renege on his World Championship offer. Adam gives him a pep talk to live up to his word. MJF regretfully agrees to give Samoa Joe a championship match. Max tries to give him the match right there and then, Joe says no, because he doesn't want Max to complain when he loses that he wasn't 100%. Joe vs. Max is set for AEW World's End.

* HOOK, Katsuyori Shibata & Orange Cassidy def. Jake Hager & 2point0 (Matt Menard & Angelo Parker)

- Danhausen came back at the start of this match. He distracted Jake Hager during the Finish by putting on his purple hat. Everybody knows that Jake Hager liked that hat. HOOK and Shibata put Menard and Parker to sleep.

- Renee Paquette speaks with Adam Cole. Roderick Strong and The Kingdom arrive. Strong questions Cole on why he wasn't there for him. Cole claims Strong is no longer his best friend. He yells at Strong to leave him alone.

- Christian Cage is out to rechristen Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus in his image. Luchasaurus took a knee. Christian renames him Killswitch. Christian Cage dubs Nick Wayne "The Prodigy" and they embrace. That's when Nick Wayne's mother comes down and Christian berates her. Killswitch steps into defend her. Christian smacks him and pushes him into Shayna Wayne. With his mother knocked out Nick Wayne gives Christian Cage a pair of steel chairs. Cage wants Killswitch to live up to his name. Killswitch is hesitant but before he can pull the trigger Adam Copeland comes out to save Shayna. He ferociously attacks Nick and delivers a Con-Chair-To to him. Shayna Wayne goes to check on her son. Adam Copeland never acknowledges her and never takes his eyes off Christian Cage.

- Renee Paquette interviews Anna Jay. The interview is overtaken by the infighting of the Jericho(less) Appreciation Society. Anna questions whether they're there to help her, and she says she's going to help herself tonight. Angelo Parker gets a call from Ruby Soho. Jay asks him if she can count on him tonight and he assures her that she can.

* AEW Continental Classic Match (Gold League): Jay White (3) def. RUSH (0)

- RJ City and Renee Paquette do a spoof of the Academy Awards to introduce Toni Storm. She gives an acceptance speech following her Women's World Championship win.

* Skye Blue def. Anna Jay (w/Angelo Parker & Matt Menard) and Ruby Soho (w/Saraya)

- Renee Paquette tries to interview Wardlow about his intentions to go after MJF. Wardlow says that the world doesn't revolve around Max and that the downfall of the devil will come on his time. It appears that Wardlow is getting ready to say that time will be soon when he is interrupted by AR Fox. Fox tries to get preachy about Wardlow trying to blame others instead of looking inward and Wardlow headbutts him in the mouth.

* AEW Continental Classic Match (Gold League): Jon Moxley (3) def. Mark Briscoe (0)
