WWE Raw (10/16/23) Results: Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso vs Judgment Day, GUNTHER vs Bronson Reed, More Set

WWE hosted its latest episode of Monday Night Raw on October 16, 2023. The episode features Jey Uso & Cody Rhodes defending their WWE Tag Team Championships against The Judgment Day's Finn Balor & Damian Priest, plus GUNTHER defending his Intercontinental Championship against Bronson Reed.

Also on the show, Shinsuke Nakamura is set to face Ricochet in a Falls-Count-Anywhere Match, Piper Niven faces Natalya, and WWE Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley faces Shayna Baszler. The full results are listed below.

  • WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: GUNTHER (c) vs. Bronson Reed
  • Falls Count Anywhere: Ricochet vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso (c) vs. The Judgment Day (Damian Priest & Finn Balor).
  • Rhea Ripley vs. Shayna Baszler.
  • Piper Niven (w/ Chelsea Green) vs. Natalya.

- Sami Zayn kicks off the show by recapping Kevin Owens being drafted to SmackDown. Sami says that he knows Kevin will do amazing things on the blue brand and he's also excited to show that he is a World Heavyweight Championship-level competitor. Judgment Day interrupts and they say they're glad that one thorn in the side has been removed. They hit the ring looking to take out Sami Zayn, but Jey Uso comes to make the save.

- A Shinsuke Nakamura vignette airs.

- An extended backstage segment between Sami Zayn and Jey Uso plays out Zayn initially vents his frustrations to Jey, blaming him for the reason that Kevin Owens is not by his side anymore. Uso blows him off, saying if that's how he feels, then it is what it is. Sami shows immediate frustration with his words and runs after Uso as the camera keeps a tight shot on him, and they quickly make up after Zayn apologizes. YEET!

* Falls Count Anywhere: Shinsuke Nakamura def. Ricochet.

- Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae approached Becky Lynch backstage. Indi wants an NXT Women's Tbout because she has never lost the belt. Becky agreed she deserved one, so she'll talk to Adam Pearce about it. Rhea Ripley then appeared for a brief encounter with Lynch before walking away.

Tegan Nox, Katana Chance, and Kayden Carter are approached and bullied by Chelsea Green who asks if this is a viewing party for everyone watching Piper Niven defeat Natalya coming up next, Nox threatens to attack Chelsea which is her cue to exit.

- Tegan Nox aided Nattie in the fight against Niven and Green, returning the favor from two weeks ago.

- Judgment Day has a backstage segment, hyping up their respective segments.

- Seth Rollins calls out Drew McIntyre to the ring. McIntyre says he doesn't want to be Seth Rollins' babysitter and he plans on capturing the World Championship at WWE Crown Jewel. Seth Rollins says Drew McIntyre needs to move on from his past defeats because when he loses at Crown Jewel he will have no one to blame but himself.

* Ludwig Kaiser def. Johnny Gargano

- Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae approached Becky Lynch backstage. Indi wants an NXT Women's Title bout because she has never lost the belt. Becky agreed she deserved one, so she'll talk to Adam Pearce about it. Rhea Ripley then appeared for a brief encounter with Lynch before walking away.

- Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn had a conversation. Drew is still not happy about Jey being on Raw, and Sami agrees with Seth that Drew needs to let go of The Bloodline. McIntyre claims Zayn can't relate to him since he's never been a World Champion. A challenge is made for a match next week.

* Rhea Ripley vs. Shayna Baszler ended in a double disqualification when Nia Jax, Raquel Rodriguez and Zoey Stark all got involved and disrupted the match, brawling with each other and then the women who were wrestling in the ring. The segment ended with Ripley standing tall in the ring, daring Nia Jax to step in the ring and face her.

- Adam Pearce is in his office with Becky Lynch and tells her he will try to make the Indie Heartwell match happen as long as Shawn Michaels and NXT are okay with it. Xia Li storms in and asks what about her shot, Becky says that she just needs to say the word and Li says that she will on her own time. Li storms out and then Jade Cargill enters the frame to confront Becky Lynch and talk to Adam Pearce.

- Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso are interviewed by Jackie Redmond and they have some fun previewing their Tag Team Championship defense tonight. YEET!

* WWE Intercontinental Championship: Gunther (c) def. Bronson Reed

- Jackie Redmond interviews The Miz. Miz wants Adam Pearce fired because he waited till the third hour to put him on TV. Miz suggests that Nick Aldis might treat him better. Nia Jax interrupts the interview and says that she does the squashing on Monday nights. Miz tries to talk again and is interrupted by Jackie who informs him they're out of time.

- Rhea Ripley was informed by Adam Pearce that she must defend her championship at WWE Crown Jewel in a Fatal 5-Way against Nia Jax, Zoey Stark, Shayna Baszler, and Raquel Rodriguez. Indus Sher then approached Pearce to speak with him.

- Akira Tozawa and Alpha Academy training. Chad Gable believes that he and Otis should compete for the Tag Team Championships. That is the aim of New Day, according to Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, who enter the frame. Gable advises that the two teams face each other next week to see who has the finest hip swivels and movements. Tozawa then began to swivel in his own unique manner after yelling "ARIGATO!"

- Gunther says he expects Johnny Gargano to not be walking around after Giovanni Vinci faces him next week and it will be Ludwig Kaiser's responsibility if they fail in that mission.

- Jimmy Uso appeared and Superkicked his twin brother allowing Judgment Day to get the victory.
