WWE Raw (9/2/24) Results: WWE Women's Tag Team Title Top Contender Match, IC Title Tournament Continues

WWE Raw (9/2) Results

- Rhea Ripley kicked off the show and said she wanted another shot at the Women's World Championship because she pinned Liv Morgan at the WWE Bash in Berlin. Dominik Mysterio interrupted Ripley and tried to say that Morgan wouldn't be coming because she was banged up but that she would accept the challenge and face her anywhere, anytime. Morgan tried to sneak up on Ripley, but Ripley saw it coming and attacked her. Ripley chased after Mysterio but got her foot caught between the ropes, allowing the members of Judgment Day to attack her. Damian Priest ran out to make the save, and the heels went skedaddling. Ripley sold the effects of getting her leg caught up in the ropes.

- A recap showed what happened last week between Uncle Howdy and Chad Gable.

* American Made (Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, & Ivy Nile) def. Alpha Academy (Otis, Akira Tozawa & Maxxine Dupri)

- After the match, Chad Gable cut a promo on Uncle Howdy and said that next week, they wanted to face The Wyatt Sicks in an 8-Person Tag.

- Howdy came out to accept the challenge, speaking cryptically about his last year.

* Shayna Baszler def. Zelina Vega

- After the match, Zoey Stark and Sonya Deville join Shayna to continue attacking Vega. Lyra Valkyria comes out to make the save. She gets beaten down as well. Deville cuts a promo, inviting the rest of the roster to take their shot at the Pure Fusion Collective.

- Backstage, Damian Priest is still tending to rear Ripley, who is now wearing a knee brace and on a crutch. He says he needs to find a tag team partner because Finn Balor will only face him in a tag team match.

- CM Punk is coming up next.

- Backstage, Vega and Valkyria discussed their frustration with Pure Fusion Collective. They knew they needed a partner, and Valkyria said they'd be in Calgary next week. She had an idea.

- CM Punk says he's glad to be on the other side of the Strap Match. He calls Gunther and says he's ready for a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity. It's a strong promo that ends with Cult of Personality playing. However, it's not over yet. Drew McIntyre attacks CM Punk while he's on the announce table. McIntyre gives punk a Claymore Kick out of his shoes. Drew McIntyre throws him in the ring. He takes off the friendship bracelet and breaks it once and for all. Punk is stretchered out of the building. After a commercial break, McIntyre continues to attack Punk, who is now bleeding.

* WWE Intercontinental Championship Number One Contenders Tournament: Ilja Dragunov def. Dragon Lee and Dominik Mysterio

- During the match, Carlito came out to attack Dragon Lee because that feud won't die. Priest came out to chase off Carlito.

- In a backstage segment, Braun Strowman stepped up to take Bronson Reed's place in the Triple Threat, which is coming up later.

* WWE Women's Tag Team Titles Number One Contenders Match: Unholy Union (Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn) def. Damage CTRL (IYO SKY & Kairi Sane)

- Gunther was getting ready to come out to the ring and briefly confronted Kofi Kingston backstage while Kingston was talking to Adam Pearce about a tag team title opportunity.

- Priest asked Ripley for an update on his probable tag team partner for the evening. Priest inquired whether "he" answered "yes." She answered no, and he said, "Yeet." Priest was thrilled but wanted to speak with him first.

- Gunther hyped up the success of WWE Bash in Berlin. He says he beat "the best" Randy Orton. Sami Zayn came out to interrupt Gunther. Sami Zayn talks about his Intercontinental Championship run and the past Intercontinental Champions who parlayed their success with that belt to a World Heavyweight Championship run. He says he wants to do that next. Gunther turns him down and says he has no interest in facing him. As Gunther walks away, Zayn says he's never seen him back down from a challenge and promises to become the World Heavyweight Champion eventually.

- Bron Breakker interrupts Jackie Redmond's interview with Jey Uso. He tells Uso to stick to chasing Rhea Ripley because he will never win the Intercontinental Championship. Uso that is that now Breakker has his attention, and he promises to win the IC strap. YEET.

* WWE Intercontinental Championship Number One Contenders Tournament: Braun Strowman def. Sheamus and Ludwig Kaiser

- While Sheamus was about to pin Kaiser, Pete Dunne appeared and hit him with a shillelagh. Strowman won the Kaiser win with a Powerslam.

- Damian Priest and Jey Uso meet backstage and get on the same page—YEETs and WEPAs for everyone.

- Jackie Redmond interviews Pete Dunne. She makes a crack about him being Butch, and Pete tells her not to call him that—a nice uncharacteristic moment of personality for a WWE backstage character.

* Damian Priest & Jey Uso def. Judgment Day (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh)

- Liv Morgan came down towards the end to help her Judgment Day teammates. Rhea Ripley came out limping on a crutch and beat Morgan with that crutch. Everybody happily celebrated after the babyfaces won. Ripley was YEETIN' to close out the post-WWE Bash in Berlin episode of WWE Raw.
