WWE Raw 9/28/20 Results: 3 Title Matches, Robert Roode Returns & Randy Orton Destroys Legends

Lee McAteer: Joe Hendry Is Absolutely Fantastic, He Deserves Every Single Thing He's Getting

- Ric Flair, Big Show, Christian & Shawn Michaels make their way to the ring to start the show. Michaels gets the microphone and he welcomes everybody to Raw, Michaels then brings WWE Champion Drew McIntyre out to the ring. McIntyre talks about what they accomplished together last night at WWE Clash Of Champions ‘20, McIntyre talks about what each of the WWE Legends means to him. McIntyre talks about their collective disdain for Randy Orton, Michaels talks about how he and the legends came together with McIntyre’s knowledge at WWE Clash Of Champions ‘20. Orton appears on the big screen and he says their rivalry isn’t over yet until he wins the WWE Championship, Orton says he’ll be given another title shot. Orton threatens all the legends in the ring with McIntyre, Orton is then shown leaving the arena with his luggage. McIntyre says he’ll put the WWE Championship on the line tonight in an open challenge, McIntyre asks somebody to step up tonight.

- Highlights are shown of what went down at WWE Clash Of Champions ‘20 between Asuka and Zelina Vega.

- Kayla Braxton interviews Zelina Vega, who says she is just getting started on Raw and she’ll prove that she is ready for Asuka. Asuka arrives and she says that she is ready for Vega, Asuka says Vega will lose to her again before security is forced to get between them.

Raw Women’s Championship
Asuka (c) vs. Zelina Vega

The match begins with Vega dropping Asuka with a forearm strike, Vega mounts Asuka while landing more strikes. Asuka quickly gets free and she briefly gets Vega in an arm bar, Vega recovers and she snaps the arm of Asuka. Vega gets Asuka down while applying the grounded octopus to her, Asuka gets free and she pins Vega for a near fall. Vega gets up and she knocks Asuka out of the ring with a basement drop kick, Vega leaps off the ring apron and Asuka nails her with a head kick as we go to a commercial break. We return from the break to see Vega attacking the injured arm of Asuka with strikes, Vega slaps Asuka and Asuka gets angry before landing a bunch of strikes. Asuka nails Vega with a pop up knee strike and a hip attack, Asuka follows up with a release German suplex and sliding kick on Vega for a near fall. Vega fights back and she applies a hanging kimura to Asuka, Asuka gets free and Vega reapplies the hold. Asuka gets free again after nailing Vega with a suplex, Asuka keeps Vega down while landing some kicks to her face.

Asuka looks for the Asuka Lock and Vega counters with a roll up, Asuka gets Vega in the Asuka Lock and Vega gets to the ropes. Asuka argues with the ref and Vega nails her with a back stabber for a near fall, Vega gets angry and she stomps on a downed Asuka. Vega climbs to the top rope and Asuka gets her knees up on the moonsault attempt, Asuka gets Vega in the Asuka Lock and a tap out follows.

Winner: Asuka, still the Raw Women’s Champion

- The WWE Legends are backstage playing some poker.

- Andrade is in the ring after the commercial break and he tells Zelina Vega that she is nothing without him, Andrade calls her the weak link. Andrade says he was holding the team with Angel Garza together before Garza got hurt, Andrade issues an open challenge and it is answered by Keith Lee.

Andrade vs. Keith Lee

The match begins with Andrade looking for a go behind before landing a few strikes on Lee, Lee recovers and he drops Andrade before working over his arm. Andrade cracks Lee with a few strikes to get free, Lee tosses Andrade across the ring and Andrade trips him into the turnbuckle a short time later. Andrade continues attacking Lee with strikes until Lee nails him with a cross body block, Lee then hits Andrade with an avalanche before tossing him across the ring and landing another avalanche. Andrade fights back and he drop kicks Lee in the knee, Lee tosses a swing Andrade to the ring apron. Lee catches a leaping Andrade and Andrade gets free before landing a chop block followed by a drop kick, Andrade then hits Lee with a running double knee strike. Lee nails Andrade with a Spirit Bomb from out of nowhere for a three count.

Winner: Keith Lee

- The Hurt Business is shown eating earlier today when somebody joins them at their table, Bobby Lashley makes the person change seats before threatening him. Lashley makes the person leave his food before leaving the table.

- Highlights are shown of Akira Tozawa possibly being eaten by a shark on last week’s Raw.

- WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth is playing chess earlier today against “Little Jimmy,” a ninja arrives and he hands R-Truth an envelope while holding a briefcase. R-Truth reads the letter and the letter says that R-Truth gets Tozawa’s black belt, Tozawa appears behind R-Truth and rolls him up for a three count to win the title. Drew Gulak is the ninja and he attacks Tozawa before getting a three count to win the title, R-Truth rolls up Gulak to win the title back.

- Highlights are shown of last weeks Raw, where Seth Rollins challenges the heritage of Dominick and Aalyah Mysterio.

- Seth Rollins approaches Murphy backstage, Rollins talks about The Mysterio Family appearing on The King’s Court tonight. Rollins tells Murphy to get out of his wrestling gear and put the suit on that he gave him, Rollins takes Murphy’s phone after he leaves.

- Jerry Lawler is in the ring for an edition of The King’s Court, Lawler talks about the issues between Seth Rollins and The Mysterio Family before bring The Mysterio Family out to the ring. Rey says that Rollins is trying to control his family, Rey says he and his wife have worked hard to build a loving family. Dominik promises to end Rollins the next time that they meet, Aalyah says she is upset about what happened last week and she says Murphy came to her because she wasn’t looking for him. Aalyah says Rollins is a fraud and whomever works with him is a bad person, Rollins appears on the big screen and he says one member of The Mysterio Family isn’t being 100% honest. Rollins says that Aalyah may not be telling the truth about her feelings for Murphy, Rollins shows an exchange of text messages between Aalyah and Murphy. The Mysterio Family confronts Aalyah and she heads backstage with the family following her, Murphy finds Rollins backstage and he is angry with what just went down. Dominik attacks Murphy and security comes to break it all up.

- Natalya & Lana make their way to the ring, Natalya says they’ll stand out here all night until Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler are stripped of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Adam Pearce comes out and he says that Jax & Baszler won’t be stripped of the titles, Pearce then makes Natalya & Lana versus Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke.

Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke vs. Natalya & Lana

The match begins with Natalya taking Brooke down with a headlock, Brooke gets Natalya in a head scissors and Natalya quickly gets free. Brooke corners Natalya before landing a handspring enziguri, Rose tags in and she drops Natalya while tagging Brooke in. Brooke kicks Natalya in the face for a near fall, Lana makes a blind tag and she drops Brooke with a hair pull for a near fall. Natalya tags in and she double teams Brooke with Lana, Lana tags in and she nails a downed Brooke with a sliding head kick for a near fall. Lana keeps Brooke down while applying a chin lock to her, Brooke gets free and Lana drops her with a hair pull. Lana attacks Rose before eating an enziguri from Brooke, Rose tags in and she cleans house against the opposing team. Rose drops Lana with a gut wrench suplex for a near fall, Natalya interferes and Brooke quickly takes her out. Rose nails Lana with a knee strike for a three count.

Winners: Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke

- Highlights are shown of Aleister Black’s attack on Kevin Owens on last week’s Raw.

- Aleister Black is backstage and he asks Kevin Owens if he is a good man, Black says Owens thrives because he can manipulate viewers. Black says that Owens has a nack for turning on people, Black says Owens she tell his son about his betrayal. Black takes the eye cover off to show the damaged eye.

- The WWE Legends are still playing poker backstage when The Street Profits arrive to join the party.

Kevin Owens vs. Aleister Black

The match begins with Owens immediately knocking Black out of the ring, Owens follows Black out there while landing a series of strikes. Black recovers and he stomps away on Owens when they return to the ring, Black corners Owens before landing a leaping back elbow strike. Owens backs Black into the corner and he attacks him with more strikes, Black recovers and he attacks Owens with some kicks. Owens fights back and he drops Black with a hard Irish whip into the corner, Black gets up and he exchanges strikes with Owens. Black downs Owens before choking him on the middle rope, Black corners Owens while landing more strikes. Owens recovers and he drops Owens with a back elbow strike, Black gets up while exchanging more strikes with Owens. Black again chokes Owens near the middle rope, Owens eventually drops Black with a series of clotheslines. Owens then lands a senton and release German suplex on Black, Black leaves the ring and Owens nails him with a swanton bomb from the ring apron as we go to a commercial break.

We return from the break to see Owens gets a near fall on Black, Black recovers and he attacks the knee of Owens. Black keeps Owens down while stomping away on him, Black mounts a downed Owens while landing a multitude of strikes. Black follows up by kicking Owens right in the back, Owens fights back and Black nails him with more kicks. Black traps Owens in the corner while choking him, Black drops Owens before landing a penalty kick for a near fall. Black keeps Owens down while applying a front headlock to him, Owens gets free and Black drops him for a near fall. Black misses a pump kick and Owens nails him with a super kick for a near fall, Owens goes to the top rope and Black attacks him before meeting him up there. Owens knocks Black off the ropes before going for a swanton bomb, Black gets his knees up and he lands a knee strike afterwards for multiple near falls. Black keeps Owens down while attacking him with a ton of strikes, Black argues with the ref and Owens fights back a short time later. Black accidentally hits the ref during the striking exchange and the referee calls for the bell.

Winner: Kevin Owens, by DQ

After the match, Kevin Owens hits Aleister Black with a stunner.

- The Hurt Business bumps into Mustafa Ali backstage, Apollo Crews and Ricochet prevent an attack.

WWE 24/7 Championship
R-Truth (c) vs. Akira Tozawa vs. Drew Gulak

The match begins with Tozawa and Gulak attacking R-Truth, Tozawa and Gulak keep R--Truth cornered while landing a ton of strikes. Tozawa and Gulak argue with each other after both go for pins, R-Truth drops them both with a double clothesline for a few near falls. R-Truth corners Gulak while landing some strikes, Tozawa returns and he attacks R-Truth from behind. Tozawa and Gulak nail R-Truth with a double suplex before arguing again, Gulak and Tozawa both work over R-Truth’s arms. Gulak turns on Tozawa before double teaming R-Truth again, Gulak sends Tozawa out of the ring and R-Truth lands some strikes afterwards. Gulak gets R-Truth in the Gulock, Tozawa returns and he nails Gulak with a top rope senton bomb after R-Truth gets out of the way. R-Truth hits Gulak with an Attitude Adjustment for a three count.

Winner: R-Truth, still the WWE 24/7 Champion

- Charly Caruso interviews Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose, Rose says that she and Brooke have been friends and she wanted to make her Raw debut with her. Rose and Brooke say they’ll be watching the upcoming WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match because they’ll be challenging the winners.

Murphy vs. Dominik Mysterio

The match begins with Mysterio cornering Murphy while landing shoulder thrusts and other strikes, Murphy fights back and he kicks Mysterio in the face. Mysterio drops Murphy and they brawl on the ground, Murphy keeps Mysterio down while stomping away on him. Mysterio gets Murphy out of the ring and Murphy drags him out of it, Mysterio quickly throws Murphy into the barricade a few times. Mysterio gets Murphy in the ring before going to the top rope, Murphy rolls out of the ring and he avoids a sliding Mysterio. Mysterio then sends Murphy into the announce table, Murphy recovers and he tosses Mysterio over the announce table. Murphy gets Mysterio to the ring apron before getting tripped up by him, Mysterio gets Murphy in the ring before going to the top rope. Murphy rolls through a high cross body attempt to get a near fall on Mysterio, Mysterio sends Murphy face first into the top turnbuckle a few times. Mysterio then drops Murphy with a forearm strike to the face, Mysterio keeps Murphy down while stomping away on him.

Murphy recovers and he levels a charging Mysterio with a knee strike, Murphy gets up and he stomps away on a downed Mysterio. Mysterio fights back and he nails Murphy with a jaw breaker, Mysterio sends Murphy into the corner before landing a tornado DDT. Mysterio keeps Murphy cornered while stomping away on him, Murphy leaves the ring and Mysterio follows him out there. Mysterio sends Murphy into the barricade and ringside edge, Mysterio gets Murphy back in the ring and he returns with a kendo stick. Aalyah comes out and she argues with Mysterio, Mysterio gets in the ring and he gets rolled up by Murphy while arguing with Aalyah for a three count.

Winner: Murphy

After the match, Dominik Mysterio attacks Murphy with the kendo stick before calling Aalyah naive and he gets a slap to the face for those words.

- The Hurt Business are shown backstage.

- Dolph Ziggler is backstage talking with Adam Pearce and he wants to talk about Drew McIntyre’s open challenge.

- The Hurt Business makes their way to the ring and MVP grabs the microphone, he tells Apollo Crews that he suffers from insanity for making the same mistakes over and over again. MVP says that Cedric Alexander has been sent to boot camp for last week’s mistakes, MVP talks about how Crews failed to win the WWE United States Title at WWE Clash Of Champions ‘20.

The Hurt Business (MVP, Shelton Benjamin & Bobby Lashley) vs. Apollo Crews, Ricochet & Mustafa Ali

The match begins with Ali and his teammates jumping The Hurt Business before the bell sounds, the brawl between both teams spills to the arena floor. The lights start flickering and the Retribution logo appears on the screens as we go to a commercial break, we return from the break to see Benjamin working over Crews in the ring as the match has officially begun. Benjamin holds Crews down while applying a chin lock to him, MVP tags in and he nails Crews with some strikes. MVP goes for the big boot in the corner and Crews gets out of the ring, Lashley interferes and Crews drops him with a release German suplex. Crews then drops MVP with a middle rope cross body block, Ricochet and Benjamin are tagged into the match. Ricochet quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team, Ricochet nails Benjamin with a standing shooting star press for a near fall. Benjamin avoids a leaping Ricochet before landing a knee strike, MVP tags in and he double teams Ricochet with Benjamin for a near fall. MVP sets up for The Playmaker and Ricochet avoids it, Ali tags in and he cleans house against the opposing team.

Ali nails MVP with a neck breaker for a near fall, Lashley drags Ali out of the ring and Crews quickly takes him out. Members of both teams battle on the arena floor, MVP and Ali exchange roll ups until Ali lands a tornado DDT on him. Ali nails MVP with a 450 splash for a three count.

Winners: Apollo Crews, Ricochet & Mustafa Ali

- The WWE Legends are still playing poker backstage and Ric Flair wins the latest hand.

- A video package airs highlighting the speed of Bianca Belair.

- A video package airs on Retribution.

- WWE Champion Drew McIntyre makes his way to the ring and he asks who is ready to accept the open challenge, Dolph Ziggler interrupts and he makes his way towards the ring before the opponent is revealed to be Robert Roode.

The match begins with Roode attacking McIntyre with some leg kicks, Roode corners McIntyre before attacking his leg. McIntyre fights back and he cracks Roode with a few strikes, Roode rakes the back of McIntyre before landing more strikes to the injured leg. McIntyre fights back again and he nails Roode with some more strikes, McIntyre then kicks a leaping Roode in the midsection. Roode leaves the ring and McIntyre follows him out there before landing an inverted Alabama slam on the ring apron as we go to a commercial break, we return from the break to see Roode crotching McIntyre on the top rope. Roode hangs McIntyre upside down in the corner, McIntyre gets himself up and he propels Roode off the ropes. Ziggler interferes and he gets Roode out of the ring, McIntyre grabs Ziggler and he gets him into the ring. Roode returns and he attacks McIntyre with a chop block, Roode lands multiple elbow drops on the leg of a downed McIntyre. Roode drags McIntyre to the corner before slamming both legs onto the ring post, McIntyre fights back and he kicks Roode away from him.

McIntyre leaves the ring and Roode drops him knee first on the top of the announce table, Roode gets McIntyre into the ring before landing a diving clothesline for a near fall. Roode keeps McIntyre down while applying a figure four leg lock to him, McIntyre reverses the hold and Roode gets to the ropes to break it. McIntyre gets up and he nails Roode with a Glasgow Kiss, McIntyre then hits Roode with an overhead belly to belly suplex. McIntyre pops up to his feet and his legs give out on him, Roode nails McIntyre with a spine buster for a near fall. McIntyre looks for a Future Shock DDT and he nails it on the second attempt for a near fall, Ziggler interferes and he protects Roode from McIntyre. Roode nails McIntyre with a Glorious DDT for a near fall, Roode goes for another Glorious DDT and McIntyre avoids it before landing a Claymore Kick for a three count.

Winner: Drew McIntyre, still your WWE Champion

- A janitor is shown walking backstage, he grabs a steel chair and attacks the WWE Legends in the Legends Lounge and the janitor is revealed to be Randy Orton.
