Rey Mysterio agrees to defend the WWE United States Title against his LWO stablemate, Santos Escobar.
Rey Mysterio has agreed to give Santos Escobar a future WWE United States Championship opportunity during the September 15 episode of SmackDown. Escobar formerly asked for this Championship opportunity by saying that his dream is to face Rey Mysterio for a championship.

Mysterio agreed to the match because both had respect for one another. Then, the Street Profits and Bobby Lashley interrupted them, who made fun of how often tag teams fall apart. Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford would go on to defeat Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro, and then post-match, The Profits and Bobby Lashley attacked Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio.
A date for the title match has yet to be announced. However, Mysterio & Escobar will take on Dawkins & Ford next week.
