Ricochet: AEW Is The Gas Can To Rekindle The Fire

Ricochet officially joined AEW at AEW All In after his WWE contract expired in July. Ricochet was written off WWE television in June after reportedly telling the company he was making the decision to not renew his deal.

Ricochet was a surprise entrant in the Casino Gauntlet at AEW All In, and then competed on the August 28th episode of AEW Dynamite.

Speaking on The Masked Man Show, Ricochet was asked what excites him about being in AEW.

“Being able to rekindle that passion, rekindle that love that I started doing it 21 years ago for. To go back to the roots of it and really open up that side of my life again and just rekindle that passion that was obviously still there, it just…my gas can was a little empty. The fire was still there, I just needed some gas to throw in the fire, rekindle that fire, and I think AEW is that gas can," he said.

Asked if he feels like a new person, he replied, "I always feel like the new person. I always feel, I was the same, even now because a lot of them are younger than me, which is crazy, but I was always the young kid, I was the young one and the new guy. Obviously my body feels like it’s a vet because my body has taken a lot of bumps and beatings. But I really just try to go in open-minded. I try to go in, again, I really do feel new. This is a new place. Although it’s my friends and everything feels comfortable, I am new, and I do feel new, so I want to do everything that I can, put extra work in to catch up basically to all these guys because they’re all doing some good stuff. Everybody’s doing good stuff here. I know I’m new and I know it’s a big thing that I’m here, but I want to be able to contribute and contribute and contribute as much as possible, just like everybody else is doing because everybody’s on top of their game."

Elsewhere during the interview, Ricochet commented on wanting to prove he's a main guy. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
