Ricochet Comments On Qualifying For WWE Royal Rumble: This Is Going To Be My Year

Ricochet is confident that 2023 will be his year.

Ricochet is riding plenty of momentum at the moment. In the last few months of 2022, he emerged victorious in the SmackDown World Cup and delivered a remarkable performance in an Intercontinental Championship match against Gunther. On the January 6 episode of WWE SmackDown, he defeated Top Dolla to qualify for the WWE Royal Rumble. After the bout, Hit Row (Top Dolla, Ashante "Thee" Adonis & B-Fab) turned on him, but Braun Strowman made the save.

Speaking in a WWE Digital Exclusive, Ricochet was asked to comment on his win. First, he commented on Hit Row's post-match attack and noted that he was glad Strowman had his back on Friday night. He stated that, with Braun, he had a monster in his pocket,

"First of all, I want to say that Top Dolla. B-Fab, Adonis, all of them, they think they got one over on me. Congratulations, guys. But I just want to let you know, this isn’t the first time that someone’s beaten me up after a match, and this probably won’t be the last time that someone beats me up after a match. So I am so sorry for you, but I did exactly what I said that I was going to do, that is come into this week, take care of business, take care of Top Dolla, and move on to the Royal Rumble. Sure, they got a couple of cheap shots afterwards, but that’s why you always have a monster in your pocket. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to have someone that I’ve kind of created an alliance with, a bond with, a friendship if you will, with someone that I’ve been pretty close to recently, and that’s Braun Strowman. Luckily he came out there, and he had my back," Ricochet said.

The former WWE Intercontinental Champion went on to describe how it's hard to prepare for the Royal Rumble because it's a chaotic match. However, he stated that he intends to be resilient, determined, and unstoppable as always. Ricochet made it clear that he's confident that his momentum will continue after the Royal Rumble, as he believes he will have a big year, starting with the premium live event at the end of the month.

"The Royal Rumble, how do you prepare for it? How does anybody prepare for the Royal Rumble? I don’t know if there is a way you can prepare for the Royal Rumble. It’s so different, it’s so many people in the match, there’s so many objects out, there’s so much that goes into this that is kind of hard to prepare for it. But I think that I’m going to do what I always do, and that is be resilient, be determined, and then be that person that no one’s able to stop, like I was tonight, Mike I have been did the past couple of weeks. I’m gonna take all of this momentum for the past couple of weeks and move it from last year into this year and keep that going on to the Royal Rumble. I know everybody says that they’re going to win the Royal Rumble, everyone says it’s going to be their year. But I know this year is going to be the year of Ricochet, and it’s not just gonna stop with the Royal Rumble. It’s gonna go all throughout the year, and it’s going to continue. So the Royal Rumble is gonna be amazing," Ricochet said.
