RJ City: It's Been 'Bandied About' To Have Hey! (EW) As A Segment On TV

RJ City explains why he hasn't wrestled in AEW and how happy he is to have carved out a niche for himself among a stacked All Elite Wrestling roster.

You may not know this, but RJ City is a wrestler. RJ has experience being in the ring with the likes of a young Wardlow and even played a significant part in the wrestling return of David Arquette.

These days, RJ City is best known as the host of Hey! (EW), a weekly digital series produced by All Elite Wrestling where he has interviewed several AEW superstars (and Danhusen) in a way that allows them to flex different creative muscles and display multiple sides of their personality.

To this day, RJ City has yet to wrestle on AEW programming and has not appeared on a single episode of AEW Dynamite. However, he says there have at least been discussions about his digital web series becoming a television segment similar to Roddy Piper's iconic Piper's Pit segments.

During a recent appearance on The Comedy Store Wrestling podcast, City explained why he has yet to wrestle in AEW and how happy he is to have his own space to display his entertainment brand best.

"It was never brought up," said RJ about the idea of him having a match in AEW. "It has not been brought up. They do know that I wrestle. I also think I'm very happy to do something different. There's plenty of wrestling on the show. There's amazing wrestlers on that roster.

"I am very happy to be in my own little world," RJ continued. "We've done almost 50 episodes now. They have not given me one note. They have not looked at my scripts once. I have no idea why. They're like, 'Who do you want?' I ask, they get them, and these people are subjected to my idiocy. I don't think I would be afforded that creative license, perhaps, on TV, you know, but who's to say? Hey! (EW), it's been bandied about to be a segment on TV like a Piper's Pit, or something. It's certainly possible. It's no more stupid than anything else."

In the past, RJ City has interviewed Eddie Kingston, Renee Paquette, William Regal, and more. Fans can check out a full playlist of episodes here.

RJ City had also previously had a tryout, as a wrestler, in WWE, and during the said tryout, RJ broke out into the Mary Tyler Moore theme song. Fans can learn about that story here.
