Road Dogg Comments On Billy Gunn's 'Retirement', Compares His Method Acting To Daniel Day-Lewis

Road Dogg praises Billy Gunn's acting.

Billy Gunn seemingly retired on the July 22 episode of AEW Collision, as he left his boots in the ring after he and The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) lost to the House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews). It seemed like Gunn was committed to the retirement, which caught Bowens by surprise.

However, he returned on the August 23 episode of AEW Dynamite. Gunn and The Acclaimed then beat House of Black for the AEW World Trios Championship at AEW All In.

On his Oh...You Didn't Know podcast, Road Dogg answered questions from fans. When asked whether Billy Gunn "worked" him with his temporary retirement. the veteran praised Gunn's acting and compared his former tag team partner to renowned actor Daniel Day-Lewis.

“Well, look. He’s a wiz-erker. He worked us all. Man, he’s such a method actor. I think he’s very much right next to Daniel Day Lewis, as far as method acting and how far he’s willing to take the secret, with his fake retirement. He took his boots off in the ring. That’s commitment to the act, to the character. Then he came back, put them back on, and won titles with them. Same boots. He’s a worker, man," Road Dogg said.

Daniel Day-Lewis retired in 2017, but he had a remarkable career. He won three Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards, among other accolades.

Gunn and The Acclaimed retained the titles at AEW All Out, thanks to some help from Dennis Rodman. More information is available here.
