Rob Van Dam returned to the ring on the August 9 episode of AEW Dynamite, challenging Jack Perry for the FTW Championship.
It marked RVD's first match in AEW and his first match since April when he competed at IWC Superstar Showdown IV against Channing Decker.
Speaking on his 1 Of A Kind podcast, RVD was asked about working with Perry.
"I thought he was really good. I saw him when he was training. When I lived in LA, Katie [Katie Forbes] would train at Santino Brothers and sometimes I would go there with her, mostly just stretch, and Jungle Boy was there, training and stuff. Obviously, he's come a long way since then. He's comfortable out there, smooth, timing. Boom. He cheated, bro, [laughs] what do you want me to say? Also, I met him when he was a little kid when I met his dad. Luke was wrestling fan, so when we were at the Staples Center, it was probably 2001, I remember meeting Luke Perry and his little kid," said RVD.
Co-host Dominic DeAngelo pointed out Perry's tweet after the match.
To all the losers on here who like to talk shit without ever having done anything in their lives, @TherealRVD is STILL a world class, freak athlete, one of a kind, amazing professional wrestler. AND, beating him cements my legacy as the greatest FTW Champion to ever live. --

RVD commented on the tweet by saying, "That's pretty cool. He's right though, he didn't bury me. He beat somebody who put him through a fight. I was there to punish him, I was doing it, and I think it went well and that match elevated him. It elevated me too because a lot of people thought I was in a wheelchair. Now people know I can fucking work."
While it is unknow if RVD will return to AEW, he did comment that he spoke with Tony Khan about potentially returning to the company.
He also indicated that he got permission from WWE to appear on AEW TV. You can find his tweet by clicking here.
