Rob Van Dam Reflects On Sycho Sid's Kindness Towards Him Following A 1992 Squash Match, 'He Gave Me $20'

Rob Van Dam reflects on when he and Scott Casey were enhancement talent for Sid Justice on the road to Sycho Sid's main event match against Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 8.

Rob Van Dam was briefly known as Matt Burn in the early '90s in the WWE when he was still getting his feet wet as an enhancement talent. In 1992, Van Dam and Scott Casey were chosen to get beaten up by Sid Justice to give him a strong win before facing Hulk Hogan at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis.

Rob Van Dam reflected on that match and since kindness after the fact in an interview with WSI. Van Dam says that Sid was not only grateful for the job he and Casey did to help him look strong, but he also gave them extra money for the road.

"After the match, Sid came up to me and said, 'Hey, brother. I really appreciate what you did in there, you know, with doing the job for me as you guys did. I know it's not cool necessarily getting beat like that, but what you did helped me out, and you brought me from here up to here. That's where I want to be because I want to wrestle Hulk Hogan. I really appreciate what you did,' and he gave me 20 bucks. He said, 'I know this ain't much, but hopefully it'll help get you down the road a little bit.' Scott Casey also told me that he did the same to him. I can't remember another wrestler tipping me like that ever in my career. I mean, that was just amazing and super cool."

Sadly, Sid Eudy passed away following a battle with cancer. His passing was announced on Monday, August 26. Fans can read other tributes to Sid here.
