The Rock On Potential Match With Roman Reigns: Never Say Never In The World Of Wrestling

The Rock has made a WrestleMania career out of having dream matches at the Showcase of the Immortals.

At WrestleMania 18 in 2002, The Rock defeated Hulk Hogan in a match that was accompanied by the soundtrack of an absolutely electric audience. Ten years later, The Rock found himself in the position of the icon of an era gone by as he went one-on-one with John Cena. Now, The Rock is answering the question of is a dream match possible with Roman Reigns.

Roman and The Rock are family. They are both members of the Anoa’i wrestling dynasty. They have interacted before inside of the WWE Universe. Rock helped Roman Reigns win the 2015 Royal Rumble, much to the chagrin of that Philadelphia crowd. Roman Reigns even had a role in The Rock’s movie apart of the Fast and the Furious franchise, Hobbs and Shaw.

Participating in an Instagram Live Q&A, Dwayne Johnson was very receptive to a match with Roman Reigns but noted that the business proposal would have to be one that suits everybody involved. However, The Rock understood the unpredictability and flexibility of professional wrestling and held on to that old adage of “never say never.”

"Rock [vs.] Roman Reigns, is it possible? I think anything's possible," Rock began. "Sure, of course. I'm always open. You know, that's the cool thing about the world of professional wrestling, is that there's an adaptability to wrestling. And, you know, you never say never in the world of pro wrestling and you never say no, never, with Vince McMahon, who, you know, has been one of my mentors in business for a very, very long time and a very, very close friend, and confidant. So you never say no. I think, you know, for something like that to happen, I think the venue would have to be right. I think the business model would have to be right, but, I'm very close with Roman and that's family to me. So we'll see."
