Rocky Romero says he's had fun talks with Finn Balor, who has fantasy booked his return to NJPW for a few matches.
Balor previously rose to prominence in NJPW, where he was a founding member of Bullet Club. Then known as Fergal Devitt (and later as Prince Devitt), Balor had a successful run with the company. He won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship three times and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship six times. He also won the Best of the Super Juniors tournament twice.
In 2014, he left NJPW and signed with WWE, and he has been with the company ever since. Balor is a former WWE Universal Champion, among other accolades. He is currently featured on WWE Raw as a member of The Judgment Day alongside Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio.
Speaking on Comedy Store Wrestling, Romero, one of the key figures behind the scenes in NJPW, noted that he has had "fun" talks with Balor over the years where the former NJPW star has fantasy booked his return to Japan so he could have a few matches in order to heat himself up.
"I’ve had a couple of fun conversations with him over the last couple of years of like him kind of fantasy booking, ‘I’m going to talk to Triple H and see if there’s an opportunity to come back.’ This was years ago. Just come back and do a couple of matches and re-heat himself up before going back to WWE. I definitely think there’s a value in that for somebody at that level who has been there for a few years, just heat them up by sending them out of the country and doing something really cool," Romero said.
In the same interview, Romero noted that NJPW's door would be open to anyone in WWE who wanted to walk away. Check out his comments here.
