The joke became a running bit on Being The Elite, and speaking to Hayley of Tag Talk, Rosario discussed how the bit came to life.

“So, I’m the biggest BTE fan out of anyone. I used the watch them, every new episode that came out during COVID. I watched them all through the beginning because there’s nothing else to do, I love BTE. I think when I started getting closer with the Bucks I just, I was putting their luggage in the car; I was just in the background of a clip. And I had texted them like, 'hey, just, I know it wasn’t for long or anything but thanks for letting me be in BTE. You know, I used to watch, I still love BTE but I used to watch it all the time'. and they were like, 'hey, you and Dean should be on.' We were like okay? Sure man, I’m not going to say no to that! And he was like we’ll talk next week about these ideas. Then, when I was talking to them, Matt came up with, and Nick, they had the idea for the stand-ins. Then we shot the first bit and we were like, 'this is kind of funny, this could work.' And then we put it out there and it kind of just became a hit. And Dean and I were like 'oh my gosh it actually worked!' I think we went down to Orlando for a dark taping I think and we took this picture backstage where Dean and I are hitting the pose and our boy [Chauffeur Boz] is in the middle doing the Kenny pose. We sent it to them and it took off."

"Of course when I got hurt that was the picture everyone used for the article of me being hurt. It was just this zoomed in photo of me doing this [demonstrates the Young Bucks pose]. I just, one I can’t believe that’s the picture they used but two I can’t believe that that was from a bit and it’s actually working. People are actually calling us the stand-ins, they’re calling us Matt and Nick whenever they see us. It just kind of took off. I was so happy to come back and do that bit with Dean you know, paying a little tribute to Cody with the classic gif. But yeah, it was there idea and I’m so happy they let us do it. I’m so thankful for them every day," he said.

Grillo recently recovered from a broken fibula that he suffered in December 2022 during an AEW Dark: Elevation taping.
