Samoa Joe Retains Against HOOK, Gets Confronted By Hangman Page And Swerve Strickland On AEW Dynamite

Samoa Joe retained the gold, but two contenders have set their sights on him.

On the January 17 episode of AEW Dynamite, HOOK challenged Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship in the main event. HOOK, who entered the match with a 29-1 record, took the fight to the champion, but the veteran overpowered him and slammed him through the announce desk with a vicious slam.

HOOK continued to fight while his father, AEW broadcaster Taz, watched on. HOOK even kicked out of the Muscle Buster at one, and he suplexed Joe over his head. But in the end, Joe made him pass out by trapping him in the Coquina Clutch. In doing so, he won his first title defense. Joe won the gold by beating MJF at AEW Worlds End.

After the bell, HOOK got up and told Joe to bring it. Joe obliged and attacked HOOK, who again got up and told him to give him some before. Before Joe could do too much damage, Hangman Adam Page came to the ring. Joe made his way to the back, but Swerve Strickland was shown watching in the crowd. Strickland stared down his bitter rival, Hangman Page, while the former AEW World Champion helped HOOK to his feet.
