Sean Waltman (X-Pac) Got A $40,000 Residual Check For 'WCW vs. nWo: World Tour' On The Nintendo 64

Sean Waltman reflects on his first paycheck for a WCW video game, "WCW vs. nWo: World Tour" on the Nintendo 64.

Business was booming in the '90s, and not just for professional wrestling. The world of video games was expanding with the SEGA vs. Nintendo console war still in effect and the Sony PlayStation coming on the scene as a strong competitor for both established brands.

Wrestling video games were also making progress, and in 1997, the first wrestling game on the Nintendo 64 with the AKI engine was released. "WCW vs. nWo: World Tour" featured the top stars of WCW in 1997, along with several third-party characters that resembled top international wrestlers of the time.

Sean Waltman was featured in the game as Syxx of the New World Order. In the new book, "The Art of N64 Wrestling Games," released by YouTuber Shawn "RGT 85" Long, Waltman talks about getting a $40,000 check for the game.

"It was way different, I didn't do anything and knew nothing about the WCW/nWo game. Nothing to do with choosing my moveset and I don't think they started scanning us for video games yet. I just remember receiving a check for 40k in residuals for it. It might've made more, but that was my first check."

That was not Sean Waltman's first video game appearance. Waltman appeared as the 1-2-3 Kid in the 1994 video game "WWF Raw." Learn more about that game here.

Sean Waltman previously opened up about never really playing too many video games. Read his comments here.
