Seth Rollins took a shot at one foe and was confronted by another on WWE Raw.
On the January 8 episode of WWE Raw, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins came to the ring and expressed his excitement about the road to WrestleMania. He noted that 2024 would finally be the year that he entered WrestleMania as a reigning world champion. Rollins then wondered who he would beat at WrestleMania, and the fans chanted CM Punk's name. Rollins responded by saying that would happen in "his" dreams. He turned his attention to the deep Raw roster, and he was confronted by Jinder Mahal.
One week after Mahal was mocked by The Rock, the former WWE Champion got in Rollins' face and demanded a shot at the gold, as he had been overlooked for years. Rollins gave Mahal credit for coming out so soon after The Rock embarrassed him. He then agreed that Mahal had his attention, so he told Mahal to take a swing. Jinder only attacked when Rollins turned his back, but the reigning champion still sent Mahal running as he gained the upper hand.

WWE then confirmed that Rollins would defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Mahal on the January 15 episode of WWE Raw.
