Shawn Spears wants to remind everyone that he's a ten.
During the April 12 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW announced that Spears will face "Jungle Boy" Jack Perry on the April 14 episode of AEW Dynamite. This bout will mark Spears' first time in an AEW ring since the October 14 episode of AEW Rampage. After a few months out of action, he returned to the ring at the WrestlePro event on March 18.
In a tweet, AEW shared a clip of Spears addressing his return and his upcoming match against Perry.
"I’m back. MJF, the man who left Pinnacle for dead, is your new AEW World Champion. I wonder what that feels like. Let’s be honest, I have no idea what that feels like. But this Friday night on Rampage, once I get through Jungle Boy, I will be one step closer to running into you, Max. Why? Because I said it before, and I’ll say it again. Every day, in every way, Shawn Spears is a ten," Spears said.
As Spears noted, he was once stablemates with MJF in The Pinnacle. The group included Wardlow, FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood), and Tully Blanchard. After they lost the Stadium Stampede match to the Inner Circle at AEW Double or Nothing, the group later split up following Wardlow's turn on MJF at AEW Revolution 2022. In a partial reunion, Wardlow teamed up with FTR at AEW All Out 2022 to face Jay Lethal and the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin). Spears also reunited with FTR when he joined forces with them on the October 14, 2022 episode of AEW Rampage.
