Sheamus Says Cristiano Ronaldo Is Absolutely Not One Of The Greatest Footballers Of All Time

Sheamus doesn't believe Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best football players of all time.

With nearly 600 goals in his senior career (club and country), a European Championship, five Ballon d'Or's, and five Champions League titles, among other accomplishments, Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most decorated players in the history of the sport. According to WWE Superstar Sheamus, however, Ronaldo is world-class but not one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of boots.

Sheamus is an avid Liverpool supporter. Ronaldo currently plays for Manchester United, one of their biggest rivals. The former WWE Champion even drew a comparison to Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate, noting how they are polar opposites on the field. He said the following to WWE on BT Sport:

"Don't get me wrong, Ronaldo is probably one of the greatest players. Is he one of the greatest players ever? Absolutely not, he's not. But he's definitely a world-class player and one of the best there's been in the last decade. But even if he scores a penalty, he's all about the camera, mate. D'you know what I mean? Shirt off, where's the camera? Even if he scores a penalty and they didn't win, like, shirts off, whatever. I'm not knocking the guy or hating him; he knows exactly what he's doing. But then you look at [Ibrahima] Konate, right, and he's just the complete opposite. But who are people going to remember in 20 years time? They're going to remember Ronaldo."

Continuing on, Sheamus stated that Ronaldo couldn't last 5 seconds in the ring, saying that he is too soft, taking a shot at most footballers for going to ground and trying to draw fouls.

"Nah," he said. "He wouldn't last 5 seconds in the ring, mate. He's too soft. He's too soft, bro. Those players go down when the wind blows or a blade of grass hits their shin. They wouldn't last 2 minutes. I mean, he's got the showmanship, he's just got nothing else. He's got no physicality, that's what I mean."

Ronaldo played for The Red Devils from 2003-2009 before making the move to La Liga to join Real Madrid. In 2018 he transferred to Italian giants Juventus, where he would win consecutive Scudetti in his first two seasons. In 2020-21 he was also crowned Capocannoniere as the leading goal getter in Serie A. He moved back to the Premiere League and United ahead of the current campaign and has scored three goals in four appearances.

Sheamus was recently drafted to SmackDown in the 2021 WWE Draft. The new rosters will take effect beginning October 21, one day after the Crown Jewel PPV.
