Stephanie McMahon plans on learning from Super Bowl LV.
Originally, WWE wanted to hold WrestleMania 36 in Raymond James Stadium in an effort to host their big event at the stadium before the NFL hosted the Super Bowl. However, that was not meant to be. The COVID-19 pandemic forced WrestleMania to take place from an empty WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida in 2020 and now, WWE looks to rectify the missed opportunity from last year by hosting WrestleMania 37 in Tampa Florida.
This means that WWE will be staging their event two months after Super Bowl LV has its chance to bring the world a dose of normalcy from inside Raymond James Stadium.
Speaking with TheWrap, Stephanie McMahon revealed why she's grateful that the NFL will be taking center stage in Tampa Florida before WWE after all.
“It certainly does, I think, this year, work to our favor to be the event after the Super Bowl in the same stadium, especially given all of the key learnings that the Super Bowl will have,” McMahon told TheWrap. “Hopefully, we’ll be able to glean some insights from them in terms of what works, what doesn’t work, what we need to do to really ensure the best experience possible.”
WWE didn't only announce the change in venue for the 2021 WrestleMania on Saturday, January 16th, 2021. WWE announced the next three locations for WrestleMania. In 2022, WWE will once again take over AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, and WWE will emanate from SoFi Stadium in California in 2023. Originally, SoFi Stadium was scheduled to host this year's event.
Stephanie McMahon revealed the reason they announced so many events in advance is due to the fluid nature of the world currently and the ability to allow everyone, from fans to performers, to prepare in advance.
“It just helps everybody. It helps us for planning purposes, it helps our fans plan their trips, it helps in so many different capacities. And now we can really work with all of our partners across the board in all of these major cities and really blow everything out as big as we possibly can,” McMahon said.
A recent report stated that both nights of WrestleMania 37 should end by 10 PM. Learn more about that here.
