Stephanie McMahon Guarantees Surprises For WWE SummerSlam, Explains Media Department Restructuring

WWE SummerSlam is just around the corner and Stephanie McMahon is promising big things.

Appearing on Yahoo Finance, Stephanie was asked when fans would see her back in the ring. While Stephanie isn't ready to commit to an in-ring return, she is guaranteeing surprises at SummerSlam.

"Ever since Ronda Rousey broke my arm, I have a little PTSD. I'm not sure you're going to see me in the ring anytime soon, but I guarantee for SummerSlam, there is going to be a lot of surprises," she said.

WWE is reportedly hopeful that John Cena will headline the event against Roman Reigns. SummerSlam is currently scheduled for August 21 in Las Vegas.

In May, WWE laid off many employees in an effort to merge the digital and TV departments.

When asked about the merging of the departments, Stephanie said, "Like a lot of media companies, we're in the process of transition and evolution. When you consider the fact that we had three different media teams doing the same work, we realized there was a lot of duplication and Inefficiency. It's being more prudent business people and looking at our business in a different way."

As part of the departments merging, WWE also made cuts in the international offices and to WWE studios.

WWE Network merged with Peacock earlier this year, which allowed WWE to focus more on content and storytelling according to Stephanie.
