Steven Borden accepts the 2024 Fightful award for 'Gear Of The Year'.
Fans thought that Sting and his sons brought out the best gear of the year at AEW Revolution, choosing the trio over other creative attires from stars like Toni Storm, Seth Rollins, Swerve Strickland, Will Ospreay, IYO SKY, Thunder Rosa, and Jade Cargill.
Sting's son Steven sent in an acceptance message for the award, joking that he contributed the least to the entire operation.
"Hey everybody Steven Borden here. Sean let me know that you guys threw some support our way for Gear of the Year for my dad's last match at AEW Revolution in Greensboro. I just wanted to say on behalf of my dad and my brother, thank you very much. It's funny to be the person to acknowledge this award as the person who probably contributed the least between my dad, Darby [Allin], Tony [Khan], and everybody else involved in the operation. Overall, my brother and I just wanted it to be something that my dad was happy with, and my dad just wanted it to be something that the people were happy with. I think we were able to pull that off, particularly by whipping out some of my dad's old attire, the jacket that my brother wore was vacuum-sealed in a bag for 30+ years, so that was pretty cool to pull that out and give people the feeling like they stepped into a time machine for a second. I think that was the goal for my dad, and I'm just happy with how it went. I want to say thank you on behalf of everyone for showing support for that. See you soon."
In 2023, Zelina Vega's WWE Backlash gear won the award for 'Gear Of The Year'.
