The January 17, 2020 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown began with the return of Kane. Kane appeared to be hyping up the Royal Rumble match when Bray Wyatt appeared with an episode of the Firefly Fun House.
Bray Wyatt briefly reminisced on their Ring of Fire Match from SummerSlam 2013 and attempted to unleash The Fiend on "The Big Red Machine."
Kane would then reveal that it was an elaborate set-up as Daniel Bryan came flying in with a running knee to the demonic Universal Champion. In what appeared to be a first, the fiend retreated back into the hole in the middle of the ring from which he came, when Daniel Bryan would attempt to keep a hold of him and would grab some of the dreadlocks out of The Fiend's head.
In the following segment, Daniel Bryan would propose that the upcoming Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble between the fiend and Daniel Bryan be a Strap Match.
