Thekla says it's only going to go up from here on out.
At the STARDOM New Year Stars event on January 13, Athena defended the ROH Women's World Championship against Thekla. The match was previously confirmed after Thekla cost Athena the International Women's Cup at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty.
Speaking with Jeff Brown for Bodyslam.net, Thekla commented on her year up to this point and shared her thoughts on her match with Athena.
"I have to say despite the loss this has been a brilliant year so far. I really can’t complain, it’s very busy. I don’t have time to recall anything but it’s really good and how I like it. The exhibition was phenomenal, so many people from all over the world came. Athena is very tough but being able to compete for a Ring of Honor championship with her is massive and from now it’s just going to go up," Thekla said.
Thekla was also asked to comment on what was next for her, and she stated that she was "definitely" going to travel the world. She predicted that her name would be in a lot of people's mouths.
Athena has challenged Thekla to a rematch in the United States. More information is available here.
