Tom Lawlor’s Ready To Fight Jon Moxley On 11/20 At DEFY; Reflects On Enjoying Necro Butcher's Work

Tom Lawlor is looking forward to his upcoming fight against Jon Moxley at DEFY Wrestling.

Professional wrestling is expanding beyond the walls of exclusivity that existed for so many decades in the industry. Now, fans get to see names from New Japan Pro Wrestling, Major League Wrestling, IMPACT, and Ring of Honor interact with one another with regularity.

Yet another of these matches will take place at an upcoming DEFY Wrestling card on November 20 as Tom Lawlor of New Japan and Major League Wrestling will face Jon Moxley from AEW.

Speaking about the match with Fight Game Media, Tom Lawlor admits the Jon Moxley is very high up on his top 10 list of dream opponents and he's hoping to have a hard-hitting fight reminiscent of a 2006 match between Samoa Joe and Necro Butcher,

“I mean, when you're given the chance to fight somebody, this is right up my alley. You know, if you give me a list of 10 guys in pro wrestling that I want to go against, he's certainly going to be top three when you take into account what kind of matches I enjoy. I love the old Necro Butcher and Samoa Joe style of match. Now, I don't want to be involved in it. I love watching stuff like that... That is the kind of fight, that's the kind of match I really enjoy. Minoru Suzuki just did a phenomenal interview with the New Japan website. I'm sure a lot of stuff got screwed up in the translation but he talks about Jon Moxley, says Jon Moxley can't do shit. That's what makes him so great. You know, that's what makes him intriguing. He's out there fighting people and there's nothing I love more than seeing, in a pro wrestling match, two dudes fighting. Unfortunately, I'm going to be one of them. I'm sure I'm going to be on the receiving end of quite a beating and a lot of pain when it's all said and done. But yeah, I'm pumped up for that one.”

Jon Moxley has been staying busy outside of his commitments to All Elite Wrestling, recently agreeing to fight Jimmy Jacobs one last time at an upcoming Pro Wrestling Revolver show. Learn more here.

Tom will also be a major part of MLW as the brand comes to VICE for the first time on Thursday, October 7 with Fightland. Learn more here.
