DIY is determined to dethrone The Judgment Day.
Former NXT Tag Team Champions DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) have been on a mission to earn a shot at the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship in recent weeks. They beat JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio on the January 15 episode of WWE Raw, and they will get a shot at the gold, which is held by Damian Priest and Finn Balor, on the January 29 episode
In a WWE Raw Exclusive, DIY shared their thoughts ahead of their title match. Gargano highlighted their history in New Orleans, the site of the January 22 episode of WWE Raw.
Tommaso Ciampa: For the last three weeks, we have been showing Judgment Day and sending messages, and it’s no different here tonight in New Orleans.
Johnny Gargano: New Orleans? We’re back. Me and you put each other through hell in this building. There’s absolutely no tag team on the planet that has been through what we have together, against each other. They don’t exist.
Ciampa then shared his belief that the Judgment Day has held Raw, and the tag team titles, hostage. Gargano noted that the group says they run WWE, but Ciampa emphasized that DIY is starving. Gargano stated that he and Ciampa will do the unthinkable when they win the gold, and Ciampa called them the best tag team on the planet.
TC: Guys, for the last two years now, Judgment Day has held Monday Night Raw hostage. Hell, they have held the tag team titles hostage. That’s for damn sure.
JG: Who are we? Who are we to dethrone the Judgment Day? They run all of WWE. They’re flying first class, they have all the gold. Who are we?
TC: They’ve been spoon-fed for so damn long, they forget what it’s like to be hungry. Us, uh uh. We’re starving.
JG: You’re a different kind of winner when you start from the bottom. Next Monday, Tampa, Florida, two hours from where DIY was born, where DIY was made, where DIY was bred, we do the unthinkable. Two indie kids who were never supposed to be here, we become the new WWE Tag Team Champions.
TC: We are the greatest tag team on God’s green earth. We are DIY.
