Tony Khan: Mark Briscoe Made It Clear He Didn't Want To Do Tag Team Matches

The wrestling world sadly lost Jamin Pugh (Jay Briscoe) on January 17 in a car accident.

Jay was one-half of the ROH Tag Team Champions alongside his brother Mark Briscoe. With Jay's untimely passing, Mark is now venturing into the world of singles competition in ROH. He is set to challenge Samoa Joe for the ROH TV Title at ROH Supercard of Honor.

As for the ROH Tag Team Titles, they will be vacated and decided in a Reach for the Sky ladder match.

Speaking on the ROH Supercard of Honor media call, Tony Khan said that Mark no longer wanted to do tag team matches.

"Mark was very clear that he didn't want to go back and do a tag match or be in tag matches. He would do singles, trios, or multi-mans, but not do tag matches. That was something that made a lot of sense, and obviously, I want to do what makes Mark most comfortable. He was very comfortable with the idea of the Reach For The Sky ladder match. He's been having great singles matches and, as a trio with the Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero Miedo), has had exciting matches. There are a lot of opportunities for other great singles and trios matches and combinations with Mark," said Tony.

Tony also revealed that the Reach for the Sky ladder match was QT Marshall's idea and that Mark signed off on it.

In a previous interview, Tony said that the old ROH Tag Team Title design would be retired as they crown new champions at ROH Supercard of Honor. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
