In December, Dustin Rhodes announced he signed a new multi-year deal with AEW.
Rhodes is one-half of the ROH Tag Team Champions with Sammy Guevara and one-third of the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions with The Von Erichs (Marshall Von Erich & Ross Von Erich).
Speaking on his What Happened When podcast, AEW announcer Tony Schiavone commented on Rhodes re-signing and what he would like out of Rhodes' last run
“Well, he’s gonna have to bleed, knowing Dustin. But I would think that something on Dynamite involving Hangman Adam Page or getting a shot against the world champion, something like that. Realistically, if you think about it, Dustin had one of the better matches ever in AEW when he and Cody wrestled at Double or Nothing. So his status in AEW is pretty much solidified. As a coach, he does a hell of a job, and I would like to see him get a little run on Dynamite and/or Collision, other than just Ring of Honor," he said.
Rhodes last wrestled on AEW TV in September, teaming with Guevara against The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) in a Bunkhouse Brawl. He did appear on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite, giving a pep talk to Jeff Jarrett.
Elsewhere during the podcast, Schiavone revealed Scotty Riggs was working backstage at AEW. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
