Trent Seven is ready for the U.K. to have the spotlight once again.
Next month WWE will be presenting the second annual WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament on June 18th and 19th from 'Royal Albert Hall' in London, England. On-top of the actual tournament itself which will crown a new #1 contender to Pete Dunne's WWE United Kingdom Championship, on day one of the tournament Dunne will be in action along with his 'British Strong Style' brothers Tyler Bate & Trent Seven. After being betrayed by Roderick Strong at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans Dunne has put the band together and they will square off against The Undisputed Era in six-man tag team action.
During an interview with the Mirror Sport, Trent Seven spoke on the forthcoming six-man tag and also stated that he and Tyler Bate will be gunning for those NXT Tag Team Championships.
"Yeah it's perfect. We're just really happy they have let us run with it. We were a little bit unfortunate regarding the Dusty Classic, because Tyler was injured so we couldn't compete in that one, but Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong did a pretty good job, well, up until what happened." He said. "We just said 'don't worry, sooner or later something else will come up' and it did, with this six-man match headlining the first night of the Royal Albert Hall, which is going to be something to see. I think a lot of wrestling fans are going to be looking forward to that." Seven continued, "Indeed, it's a real dream match for us. Over the last four or five years, with what Triple H and William Regal and the guys at the Performance Center and NXT are building, they are managing to create these dream matches. As a U.K. independent wrestling fan and wrestler, we never thought we would see these kind of matches on this level, but they are coming round thick and fast. They are going to be a real sight to behold and I'm pretty excited already for the Royal Albert Hall, I'm not going to lie."
The field for the WWE U.K. Championship tournament has been revealed and it features a number of the top talents from the U.K. The former three-time PROGRESS Tag Team Champion went on to state that only the finest from the U.K. have been brought in to partake in the festivities.
"It seems like as the numbers add up, the crème de la crème of British wrestling is obviously being brought in and it can obviously only bode well for the scene here in the UK." He said. "The facilities in the U.S. have now got Johnny Moss, who is one of the best trainers this country has ever produced, and he is helping out with the training and teaching side of things with the guys over there, which is an incredible opportunity for him and them. It is gathering steam now, so it's a case of head down, let's push everything as hard as we possibly can and see what comes out of it on the other side."
Trent Seven also spoke on having ITV's 'World Of Sport' as competition and being open to it being a rival to the WWE U.K. brand, and also discussed female talent being advertised for the two-day event come next month. To read the full interview, click here.
