Booker T: Boogeyman Still Calls Me Monthly To Thank Me For Our WrestleMania Moment

Booker T reflects on his WrestleMania 22 match that featured his wife, Queen Sharmell, and the Boogeyman.

At WrestleMania 22, Booker T and his wife Sharmel faced the Boogeyman in a handicap match. He's reflecting on it as part of a new WWE Retrospective video. Booker revealed that Boogeyman was injured, suffering a torn pectoral muscle going into the match. He now calls it one of his most incredible experiences for being able to give Boogeyman that moment.

Also, Booker T says Boogeyman calls him to this day monthly to thank him for that experience.

"The Boogeyman got into this business at 40 years old, created that character, and took that character all the way to WrestleMania. I knew it was my chance to actually give the Boogeyman this ultimate moment being at WrestleMania. On this night, he was injured. No one knew it, but him and I. He had a torn pectoral muscle, and he couldn't do anything, and he was so nervous about going out and doing this match. I said, 'Don't worry about anything. Man, whatever work you can't do, I'll do the work for you.'

"Just like Jeff Jarrett said, one of his, if not the proudest moment, was putting the [WCW] World Title on me. This was one of my proudest moments. I think that's what this business was built on. Being selfish, but being selfless at the same time," he continued. "I can count on both hands and toes all of the real friends I got in this business. Marty Wright, the Boogeyman, truly one of my friends, and he calls me on a monthly basis to thank me for the Wrestlemania moment we had."

Today, Booker T remains a color commentator in the NXT system, and Boogeyman occasionally appears in WWE content.
