Trick Williams feels he shares some similarities with Shrek.
Late last year at NXT Deadline, Trick Williams completed an incredible comeback in the Men's Iron Survivor Challenge, walking out of the Premium Live Event with a guarenteed shot at the NXT Championship. Originally scheduled for NXT New Year's Evil, but was pushed back to tonight's NXT Vengeance Day.
While speaking to Comicbook.com about his upcoming title challenge, Trick would offer a comparison of his story to that of Dreamworks' Shrek. Williams noted that just like the ogre, he has to slay a mad dragon to receive his prize.
"Oh man. I think Shrek may be the perfect example for this. For Shrek to rescue Princess Fiona, he had to slay the dragon. So as I walk into Vengeance Day, Trick Williams needs to slay the Mad Dragon to receive his prize, which would be the NXT Championship."
Later on in the same interview, Trick would also make a comparison to former NBA star Tracy McGrady.
"Before I answer your question, I got to say I knew I liked you from the jump because Tracy McGrady is my favorite basketball player of all time too," Williams said. "So that whole moment was so befitting. But while we're on the topic, when we talk about sports, Trick Willy's been balling his whole life, and if you really look at the structure of that Deadline match, it's very sports-like. It's almost basketball-like, soccer-like, where the time is working against you. So when it came down to the fourth quarter, 3.4 points, it don't matter, 33 seconds, as you know, it don't matter. I got to go get it."
Trick is not only scheduled for his NXT Championship challenge later on tonight, as he is also scheduled to team with Carmelo Hayes to take on the team of Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes cup.
Trick recently commented on his SmackDown debut. You can read more about that here.
