Triple H: Kairi Sane To Compete For NXT Women's Championship At TakeOver: Houston In November

Kairi Sane's win at the Mae Young Classic finale not only gave her a cool-looking trophy, but also an immediate title shot.

After Sane defeated Shayna Baszler at the Mae Young Classic finale, Triple H told ESPN that Sane will get a shot at the NXT Women's Championship at the next TakeOver event. That TakeOver will take place on November 18, the day before the Survivor Series pay-per-view, at the Honda Center in Houston, Texas.

"[I'm] very excited that she's the first champion, and now the question is 'What's next for her?'," Triple H said. "I can tell you what's next for her... On Nov. 18 at the Toyota Center at the next NXT TakeOver, Kairi will be fighting to determine a new NXT women's champion."

The NXT Women's Championship is currently vacant after former champion Asuka vacated the title on the first set of NXT tapings post-TakeOver: Brooklyn 3. Asuka retained her title by defeating Ember Moon at that event to cap off the longest title reign by a woman in modern WWE history. It was revealed on this past week's episode of RAW that Asuka will soon be competing for WWE's Red Brand

Sane defeated Tessa Blanchard, Bianca Belair, Dakota Kai and Toni Storm to reach the finals of the tournament. Sane may be new to WWE, but she is no stranger to winning championships. Before winning the Mae Young Classic, Sane was one of the top stars of the all-female Japanese promotion Stardom where she won numerous championships.
