Triple H comments on CM Punk potentially returning to the ring.
With CM Punk returning to WWE television through Fox on WWE Backstage, speculation has run wild that Punk will eventually return to the ring. Seth Rollins has called out Punk on multiple occasions, leading many to believe he's building up an eventual match with Punk. Punk has shot down the idea of a return to the ring, saying it's something he's interested in or actively pursuing.
Speaking to the media following NXT TakeOver: WarGames III, Triple H addressed Punk potentially returning to the ring.
Triple H began by saying he has not spoken to Punk since he appeared on WWE Backstage before saying, "He's working for Fox. It's a bit of arms-length for us. It's one of those things where, when people want something so bad it's like, 'So you're saying there's a chance.' I understand it and I get it, but it is what it is at this point. Be happy. He's on Backstage and doing something in the business again. The rest of it, I've said it a million times, 'never say never,' but that's a long, long way. I know when you say that, people immediately are like, 'THEY'RE WORKIN US!'"
Triple H also noted that he didn't want Sam Roberts saying on the NXT TakeOver pre-show that the fourth member of Team Ciampa was "in Chicago," as to not tease fans of a potential Punk appearance. WWE running four straight events in Chicago has only fueled speculation that he will show up.
