Wardlow talks MJF's World Title shot at AEW Full Gear 2022.
For nearly three years, Wardlow was the muscle behind Maxwell Jacob Friedman, MJF. At Double or Nothing 2022, Wardlow finally put an end to that relationship defeating MJF in the opening match, sending him out on a stretcher, and away from AEW for almost four months. Now, as fate would have it, MJF's first official match back will be for the AEW World Championship in a match against Jon Moxley at AEW Full Gear.
In the lead-up to this match, MJF has been telling the story of turning over a new leaf and wanting to win this championship in the most honest way possible. Wardlow doesn't buy it. In a new interview with Barstool's Rasslin' podcast, Wardlow says that he believes Maxwell Jacob Friedman is going to reveal his true colors and still use nefarious means in order to walk away with the title on Saturday, November 19.
"I think he's gonna show his true colors. I, for three years, was hoping Max would kind of not be such a piece of shit and it seems like he's starting to mature and come around, but I'm not buying it. I'm not buying it. I don't think there's any way humanly possible that he can beat Jon Moxley clean without cheating. I think it's all BS," he said.
Wardlow did admit that he is hoping Maxwell wins the World Title because he wants to be the one to take it away from him.
"I murdered him to the point where he disappeared for like four months and then he comes back and is already getting a Heavyweight Title shot," said Wardlow. "No [it isn't fair], but I guess life's not fair.
"I kind of am hoping he wins that title, though," he continued. "Because I would love to take it away from him."
Before any of that can happen Wardlow must defend his TNT Championship in a 3-Way Dance against Powerhouse Hobbs and Samoa Joe at the same event where Maxwell Jacob Friedman will try to become World Champion. fans can check out the full card for Full Gear here.
