Will Ospreay missed time in March, leaving him sidelined for the remainder of the New Japan Cup and WrestleMania weekend before he eventually returned in April.
Ospreay has been active since his return, including a bout against Lance Archer at NJPW Dominion, a victory that made him the top contender to the IWGP US Title.
Speaking to Knotfest, Ospreay was asked about the condition of his shoulder coming out of the bout, and into AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2 and his match against Kenny Omega.
"As good as it physically can be, the weight difference was for sure a factor facing Lance," he said about his shoulder. "The sheer mass of the guy and it not being fully healed was extremely difficult to be able to hit any type of power moves, so had to go for strikes instead."
Omega defeated Ospreay at Wrestle Kingdom 17 to win the IWGP US Title.
Asked about the pressure to top the match, Ospreay said, "There is way more pressure as everyone will always want to be able to top it. This time, I’m more motivated to get the right results and have answers to his offense."
Ospreay made a surprise appearance on the June 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, attacking Omega to close the show.
