Winner Of New Japan Cup To Challenge IWGP Heavyweight Champion At NJPW-ROH G1 Supercard

The winner of the New Japan Cup is going to the Garden.

NJPW announced that the New Japan Cup winner will challenge the IWGP Heavyweight Champion at NJPW-ROH G1 Supercard on Apr. 6. Previously, the winner of the NJ Cup could challenge for any title of their choosing.

Jay White is the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion, having won the title from Hiroshi Tanahashi this past Monday at The New Beginning in Osaka

The NJ Cup is a 16-man single elimination tournament. Participants for the NJ Cup have yet to be revealed, although Kota Ibushi made a surprise appearance at The New Beginning in Osaka and announced that he would be part of the tournament

The 2019 New Japan Cup is set to begin on Friday, Mar. 8 and finish on Sunday, Mar 24. Zack Sabre Jr won the 2018 New Japan Cup. 

NJPW-ROH G1 Supercard is scheduled for Apr. 6 at Madison Square Garden. No matches have been officially announced at this time. ROH and NJPW will hold a Festival of Honor the night before the event.
