WWE 2K25 developer Bryan Williams tried to incorporate a traditional attribute of Samoan wrestlers into this year's video game to coincide with the roster's inclusion of so many Bloodline family members.
From the days of Afa and Sika, there was always one trope about Samoan wrestlers in matches: Do not headbutt them; you will only hurt yourself. As wrestling has evolved and the members of the Samoan Dynasty have evolved, this trope is less prevalent in today's matches featuring names like Roman Reigns and Jey Uso.
Still, WWE 2K25 developer Bryan Williams said in a recent interview with Jesse of Pro Wrestling Shoot that he tried to make Samoan wrestlers impervious to headbutts as an Easter egg in the game. Unfortunately, this was not to be.
"One of the things that I really wanted to get in that I didn't, speaking of, Easter egg-type things is, when you headbutt the Samoan, I wanted there to be that reaction where it hurts the attacker versus them. You know what I mean? We weren't able to get it in, but it's just one of those cool spots that you would see even Jey did it not that long ago. I forget who tried to headbutt Jey Uso, and he kind of just no sold it."
This year's roster will feature Afa and Sika, the Wild Samoans, making their video game debut. Tonga Kid will be making his video game debut. Also, Headshrinker Samu makes his first video game appearance since WWF Rage in the Cage on Sega CD. Check out the full roster here.
One thing added to this year's game as a superstar exclusive new animation is the strap removal animation featured for Damian Priest. In the past, games have had strap removal exclusive animations for Kurt Angle. There are other Superstar-exclusive animations, such as R-Truth and Dragon Lee-exclusive reversals.
The video game will be available to the general public on March 14. Those who pre-order the deluxe editions will have access to the game on March 7.
