WWE Files Trademarks On New Ring Name And The Name Of A Classic Pay-Per-View

WWE has filed for two new trademarks. One of them appears to be a new ring name and the other is for the purposes of merchandise

On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, WWE applied to trademark “Commander Azeez.” The full description reads as follows:

G & S: Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment

As of now, it is not certain who this name will be used for.

No Mercy was a pay-per-view that began in 1999 as a United Kingdom exclusive before becoming the October tradition from WWE for a decade. The event was brought back in 2016 and added to its legacy in 2017 when it featured the only marquee matchup between John Cena and Roman Reigns thus far.

No Mercy is also the name of the 2000 video game for the Nintendo 64 released by THQ. That video game is widely considered to be one of the best WWE games ever released.
