After some confusion with a graphic on SmackDown when Chad Gable won his King of the Ring semifinals, WWE has now confirmed that the tournament finals will in fact take place on the September 16 episode of Raw.
When Gable defeated Shane McMahon on September 10, a graphic indicated that the tournament finals were going to be on Raw. A tweet from WWE that showed the graphic stated the finals were going to take place at Clash of Champions on September 15 as it had been originally intended.
WWE's latest update on the tournament finals, which has Gable take on Baron Corbin, reads as follows:
Who will take the crown in the WWE King of the Ring tournament?
The original bracket included eight Superstars from Raw and eight Superstars from SmackDown LIVE in the tourney to become WWE royalty.
Baron Corbin will face Chad Gable in the final match of the tournament.
Don’t miss the King of the Ring Final next Monday on Raw at 8/7 C on USA Network!
Gable advanced all the way to the finals with victories against Shelton Benjamin, Andrade and McMahon. Corbin punched his ticket to the finals when he defeated The Miz, Cedric Alexander and then Samoa Joe and Ricochet in a triple threat match in the semifinals.
Fightful will have live coverage of Raw with a post-show podcast.
