WWE Smackdown on FOX Results for 9/3/21 Roman Reigns vs Finn Bälor

Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage for tonight's edition of WWE Smackdown on FOX!

- We open tonight's show with a video package for the WWE Universal Championship match between the champion Roman Reigns and the challenger Finn Bälor later tonight.

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship Contenders Match
The Bloodline (The Usos) vs Street Profits

Street Profits take control early by doubling up on Jimmy and Jey before clearing the ring and Montez goes for a dive off of the apron only to be caught and driven into the barricade as we go to commercial.

We come back from the break with the Usos in control before Montez gets the hot tag to Angelo who drops Jey repeatedly before Jey stomps him and hits a hip attack in the corner before Jimmy comes in and the Usos double up on Angelo with a double suplex before Jimmy hits an enzuigiri and Angelo hits The Anointment. Montez then comes back in and hits a diving splash for a near fall before Jey sends Montez into the post repeatedly before the referee calls for the bell as he's not the legal man.

Winner: Street Profits defeat The Bloodline via disqualification to earn a title opportunity.

- Backstage Roman is disappointed by the outcome in the match before telling Paul to go get Jimmy and Jey before Paul leaves and makes a phone call before the backstage interviewer eavesdrops and Paul runs into Intercontinental champion Big E.

- Smackdown Women's champion Becky Lynch comes out to the ring to address the WWE Universe before saying that Bianca wasn't ready for their match and that's on her and not Becky and that she hasn't forgotten how to win before saying that they both know that she's the best. Becky is interrupted by Bianca who talks about how much she accomplished and lost it all in twenty-six seconds before saying that she's not going to build herself up to bring Becky down and refuses to make excuses for herself before saying that Becky doesn't know her. Bianca then challenges Becky to a rematch tonight before Becky turns her down and says that she doesn't give a damn if Roman is defending his title tonight before leaving.

- Backstage Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode walk backstage before they walk passed Toni Storm and Toni turns down his offer to be in his corner and says that she's rooting for Rick Boogs.

Rick Boogs (w/ King Nakamura) vs Dolph Ziggler (w/ Robert Roode)

The two start the match off by grappling before Rick hits a Gorilla Press and Dolph counters a pump handle suplex before hitting a DDT for two before Rick hits the pump handle powerslam on his second attempt for the pin and the win.

Winner: Rick Boogs defeats Dolph Ziggler via pinfall.

- Becky meets with Adam and Sonya backstage where they inform her that she and Bianca will have a contract signing next week for their title match at Extreme Rules.

Cesaro vs Seth Rollins

Cesaro immediately hits a backbreaker and Seth rolls out of the ring before Cesaro rushes him and hits a running uppercut before smashing his face across the top of the barricade and rolling him back inside before the two exchange dropkicks and Seth gets to the ropes for the break before Cesaro can swing him before missing an enzuigiri and Cesaro hits an uppercut. Seth backs to the ropes before kicking Cesaro and hitting a DDT for two as we go to commercial.

We come back from the break to Cesaro making a brief comeback as he whips Seth into the ropes and Seth hits a flat liner into the middle turnbuckle and Cesaro catches him up top with an uppercut before Seth hits a buckle bomb for a deep two count before Cesaro counters a neckbreaker and powerbombs Seth when he goes for a stomp. Cesaro hits a series of uppercuts into a discus clothesline for two before calling for the swing and Seth counters into a clutch for a near fall before Cesaro swings him and locks in a sharpshooter before Seth gets to the ropes for the break before Cesaro dumps Seth over the top rope and down onto the floor before going for another running uppercut outside and Seth picks up a chair when he does and the referee disqualifies Seth.

Winner: Cesaro defeats Seth Rollins via disqualification.

- After the match Seth attacks Cesaro with a chair before locking in a cross face with a piece of a chair before calling out Edge and hitting Cesaro with a stomp before bringing another chair into the ring and lies Cesaro's face on it before picking up another chair and Cesaro is saved by Edge with a chair of his own.

- In the locker room Roman tells The Usos to leave the room while they game plan before Paul tells Roman that Brock Lesnar will be at Smackdown next week and called Paul on his phone.

- Happy Corbin shows up at the arena in a new car before he heads into the arena and Kevin Owens comes out to the ring for tonight's edition of the KO Show with Happy Corbin as the special guest as we go to commercial.

- Backstage Edge is interviewed about Seth where he talks about how the game Seth is playing is dangerous and needs to stop and he's going to stop Seth next week at MSG.

- We come back from the break to Kevin Owens in the ring for the KO Show before he introduces tonight's guest Happy Corbin who introduces his own guest Logan Paul before Logan comes out to the ring and talks about he and happy hung out and watched Jake's fight against Tyron Woodley. Logan then offers Kevin money before Kevin says that he doesn't need his money, and just needs him to leave and never show up in WWE again before knocking his mic out of his hand. Logan then shoves Kevin before Kevin shows him back and Happy attacks Kevin when he goes to attack Logan before Logan and Happy leave up the ramp as we go to commercial.

- Backstage we get a vignette for Carmella as we see Liv Morgan off camera annoyed at Carmella posing with her hair blowing.

Dominik Mysterio vs Sami Zayn

Sami backs Dom into the corner before he escapes and catches a kick before they exchange wrist locks and Dom hits a drop toe hold that sends Sami into the ropes before Sami escapes and goes to leave up the ramp before Rey comes out and keeps Sami from leaving before Dom hits a flipping senton over the referee when she's checking on Sami in the ropes. Once they're back in the ring Sami then pins Dom with a Helluva Kick for the pin and the win.

Winner: Sami Zayn defeats Dominik Mysterio via pinfall.

- Backstage Sonya is on the phone before she's interrupted by Naomi who asks about her match this week before Sonya tells her to ask her next week as we go to commercial.

Roman Reigns (c) (w/ The Bloodline) vs Finn Balor

The Usos show up out of nowhere and attack Finn when he's making his entrance before the match before hitting him with the steps repeatedly and the Usos are chased off by Angelo and Montez as we go to commercial as the referee is checking on Finn as Roman and Paul come out to the ring.

We come back from the break to Roman in the ring as the medical team check on Finn before Finn demands the match happen regardless of whether he's injured or not before the match starts off with Roman tossing Finn across the ring and stomping him in the corner before beating him down and hitting clubbing blows before Finn dropkicks Roman's knee. Finn then focuses on the leg of Roman before Roman headbutts him and Finn hits a sling blade before Roman drops him with a right hand when Finn rushes Roman for a shotgun dropkick before hitting a standing uranage for two as we go to commercial.

We come back from the break to Roman teasing a Superman Punch before Finn counters and hits a Pele kick before Roman sends Finn out of the ring and catches his breath before Finn traps Roman in the apron and stomps him before hitting a flipping senton and tossing Roman back inside before missing the Coup de Grace and Roman hits a Superman Punch for a near fall. Roman plays to the crowd before calling for a spear that Finn counters and gets a near fall off of an inside cradle before hitting a reverse DDT for another near fall before Finn hits a shotgun dropkick and the Coup de Grace for a very close near fall before Roman inadvertently low blows Finn and beats on him before Roman locks in a guillotine for the win.

Winner: Roman Reigns retains his Universal title by defeating Finn Balor via submission.
