WWE Still Recognizes Asuka As Raw Women's Champion

Controversy was afoot in the Raw Women's Championship bout at the Horror Show at Extreme Rules between Asuka and Sasha Banks.

Banks left the event as Raw Women's Champion after the referee was blinded by Asuka's mist and Bayley took the referee's shirt and counted the pinfall victory for Banks. The finish left many confused, including Asuka herself.

WWE would seem to agree with Asuka as the WWE website still lists her as the Raw Women's Champion on the roster page. Furthermore, in the Extreme Rules recap, the result reads, "With the referee incapacitated, Bayley struck Asuka with one of the Women’s Tag Team Titles and put on the referee’s shirt to count a pinfall for Banks, unofficially hailing her partner as the victor and fleeing with the Raw Women’s Championship."

So, unofficially, Banks is the champion. But officially, Asuka is the champion.
