One night after competing in the co-main event at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18, Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada were on the same team at NJPW New Year Dash.
Danielson and Okada teamed with Tomohiro Ishii & Jon Moxley to battle TMDK (Zack Sabre Jr, Kosei Fujita, Shane Haste, & Mikey Nichols).

TMDK were victorious in the bout with Ishii being pinned by Haste.
After the match, Zack Sabre Jr issued a challenge to Danielson, saying he would tap him out. Danielson seemed willing to give ZSJ his rematch.
The two men met at AEW WrestleDream with Danielson scoring the win.
