AAA President Says Lucha Underground Wrestlers Might Appear On IMPACT Television, But Not In Character

Lucha Underground is the unofficial United States rival to Mexico's top lucha libre promotion, AAA. Many AAA talents, like Pentagon and Fenix are major players on the El Rey Network show. AAA has allowed them to appear, but is now fighting with some of them in court over the rights to use their ring names outside of Mexico. Now, with the announced partnership between AAA and IMPACT Wrestling, there are many who are interested about what might happen to Lucha Underground.

We might have an answer, if not about the TV show, then about the wrestlers.

In a new interview with Media Tiempo, AAA president Dorian Roldan says that he doesn't think there should be any conflict of interest. Speaking about AAA and IMPACT, he said.

"We don't view ourselves as competition, we view ourselves as an alliance. What makes Lucha Underground so different than a promotion is that it is a television series. I'm not preventing people who have had a presence on Lucha Underground from appearing on IMPACT."

There's a twist, however.

Pro Wresting Sheet is reporting that their sources have said that if AAA wrestlers do appear on IMPACT television, they won't be appearing as their Lucha Underground characters.

Confused yet?
