The long, simmering tension between Kenny Omega and Cody came to blows this morning at New Beginning in Sapporo.
It started when Kenny Omega lost the IWGP United States championship to Jay White in a back and forth match, with White picking up the win after a second Bladerunner. But while the end of Omega's 207 day run as champion would be the top story most nights, a major angle closed out the show that shook the foundation of the Bullet Club.
Hangman Page came out after the match and challenged Jay White for the title, grabbing the belt. Omega snatched the title from Page and handed it back to White. The two exchanged words, with Kenny Omega making it clear he wanted a rematch, as Cody, Marty Scurll and The Young Bucks came in. Cody was upset that Omega was stealing Page's moment.
Tensions flared as Omega shoved Cody. Matt Jackson went to grab Omega's shoulder and on instinct Omega shoved him down. Both of the Young Bucks weren't happy about that and walked out as tensions seemingly cooled. Omega and Page made peace as he and Scurll exited the ring. Cody seemingly made peace as well with Omega, and opened the ropes for him to exit the ring.
As Omega went through the ropes, Cody jumped him and laid him out with the crossroads. Hangman and Scurll came back in and were yelling at Cody as he grabbed a chair from the announcers desk. Cody convinced Page to hold Omega as Cody was about to deck him with the chair when Kota Ibushi ran in and sent them reeling to the back.
Omega struggled to get to his feet as Ibushi extended his hand to help him up. He shook his head as he got emotional about what had just gone down. But once Omega made it to his feet, the two former tag team partners embraced to huge pop as streamers fell down to close out the show.
Many questions have emerged stemming from this big angle, but it seems to be clear that Kenny Omega is out of the Bullet Club, and he and Kota Ibushi have reunited.
