As far as Finn Balor is concerned, Hulk Hogan would be welcomed back into the WWE with open arms.
In September, Hogan said he missed wrestling in a ring for very personal reasons. Last week, Brooke Hogan, daughter of Hulk Hogan told TMZ her father was talking with WWE about an eventual return, most likely at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando. At a Wizard World panel in Pittsburgh, the former WWE Universal Champion Balor spoke with ScreenGeek about the possibility of Hogan being in the WWE again.
“Obviously, the expression is anything can happen in the WWE, and me as a fan, I would love Hulk Hogan to come back. I don’t know if that’s possible, but a lot stranger things have happened in the past, and it’s not out of the realm of possibility one bit – and I’d love it. If I got an opportunity to wrestle Hulk Hogan, that would be even better,” said Balor.
Balor is not alone in approving of a Hogan WWE return. Last week, WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall spoke about Hogan in the WWE ring. Hogan has not been seen in the WWE since 2015 due to the combination of a sex-tape and racial slur scandal. Since then, public perception has shifted a bit with a portion of the fanbase--just how big a portion has yet to be determined. This is mostly due to his winning a defamation suit in a court case against Gawker media, the distributor of his sex tape.
Balor has not been seen in a match since his shoulder injury at Summerslam. He had surgery and was forced to relinquish his WWE Universal Championship on August 22nd. His recovery time is estimated to be approximately six months according to WWE.
Hogan has not wrestled in a match since 2012. If he does make a return, it will be interesting to see how fans respond, particularly at a major event like WrestleMania.
