“They have been in the process of ending their relationship for a number of months” Hudson’s representative told People. "Today, Jennifer requested and received a protective order against her ex-fiancé. Jennifer’s actions are solely taken in the best interest of their son."

Otunga gave a response to TMZ, saying "David Otunga has been trying to negotiate the terms of an amicable parenting agreement with Ms. Hudson for several weeks now. However, when it became apparent to Ms. Hudson that Mr. Otunga would be the parent granted residential care of the child, as a result of Mr. Otunga being the child's primary caregiver while Ms. Hudson pursues her career all over the world, Ms. Hudson decided to file a meritless Petition for Order of Protection in an effort to gain an unfair advantage in the custody dispute."

Otunga proposed to Hudson way back in 2008, less than a month after starting a relationship. They have one child together, David Daniel Otunga Jr.

David Otunga has been part of the WWE for years, first as a member of the Nexus, then as a singles wrestler. He was set to be a part of the Raw announce team going forward as a part of the brand split, but when he took time off to film a movie was replaced by Booker T, first on a trial basis then ended up becoming a permanent situation. Since then, he's mostly been used as a part of pre-show panels for bigger WWE events.

Hudson is famous for her run on American Idol, and also earning an Oscar for her role in the movie Dreamgirls. She is currently a judge on the television show The Voice.
