Dominick Reyes, who is sitting at #8 in the UFC Light Heavyweight Division rankings, wants to be the fighter who takes the belt off of Jones.

“I would love to be the guy to dethrone Jones,” Reyes told MMA Junkie Radio. “It matters. That’s been the plan all along. I’ve kind of always wanted to fight Jones. I started fighting in 2012 and look at that – Jones was the guy then. So I’ve kind of been training for him the entire time.”

Jones is defending the title against Anthony Smith this March at UFC 235, while Reyes fights Volkan Oezdemir two weeks after UFC 235 at UFC Fight Night London.

Reyes wants Jones to win at UFC 235, but acknowledges that Smith can get the job done that night.

“I want Jones to win, but I think Smith can catch him,” Reyes said. “Smith is a tough competitor. He throws those hands. If he goes out there and throws caution to wind, he might get him.”

UFC Fight Night London takes place on Saturday, March 16 from the 02 Arena in London, England with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
