A lightweight division attraction has been added to UFC 249 as #14 Islam Makhachev is in action against #15 Alexander Hernandez.
MMA Junkie first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Makhachev (18-1-0) enters the contest riding a six fight winning streak, having defeated Chris Wade, Nik Lentz, Gleison Tibau, Kajan Johnson, Arman Tsarukyan and Davi Ramos. Makhachev has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to Adriano Martins at UFC 192 in October of 2015. Makhachev has competed a total of nineteen times as a professional MMA fighter and eight of those bouts went the distance.
Hernandez (11-2-0) has won three of four under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over the trio of Beneil Dariush, Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Francisco Trinaldo. Hernandez is undefeated when competing on UFC pay-per-view cards, as his win over the aforementioned Dariush came at UFC 222. Hernandez has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter and both of those defeats came to fighters currently on the UFC roster.
UFC 249 takes place on Saturday, April 18 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
