A heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 250 as #11 Blagoy Ivanov is in action against #13 Augusto Sakai.
Combate first reported the news, as the bout was originally set to happen at the original UFC 250 card on May 19, which was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ivanov (18-3-0-1NC) has won two of four under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Ben Rothwell and Tai Tuivasa. Ivanov is also a former WSOF Heavyweight Champion, defeating Smealinho Rama to win the gold at the WSOF 21. Ivanov has competed a total of four times in the UFC and all of those bouts went to the judges scorecards.
Sakai (14-1-1) is undefeated thus far in the UFC, with those wins coming over Chase Sherman, Andrei Arlovski and Marcin Tybura. Sakai also competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil Episode 1, defeating Marcos Conrado Jr. by second round TKO. Sakai has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came against UFC veteran Cheick Kongo at Bellator 179.
UFC 250 takes place on Saturday, June 6 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
