A middleweight division contest has been added to UFC Fight Night Brazil as #12 Brad Tavares is in action against #13 Antonio Carlos Jr.
Raphael Marinho of Combate first reported the bout, but its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Tavares (17-6-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight losing streak, having dropped bouts to the duo of Israel Adesanya and Edmen Shahbazyan. Tavares hasn’t won a bout in almost two years, with that last win coming over Krzysztof Jotko a UFC On Fox 29. Tavares has picked up seventeen wins as a professional MMA fighter and more than half of them came by way of decision.
Carlos Jr. (10-4-0-1NC) also comes into the contest riding a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Ian Heinisch and Uriah Hall. Carlos Jr. was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3, defeating Vitor Miranda in the finals of the reality show. Carlos Jr. has earned ten wins as a professional MMA fighter and eight of them came via submission.
UFC Fight Night Brazil takes place on Saturday, March 14 from a location to be announced in Brazil with a main event to be announced. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
